Shichigoro-shingo
The title of this exhibition, “Industrial Punk”, is a phrase coined by Shichigoro-shingo. Shicihgoro-shingo’s work is often labeled as cyberpunk, steam punk, bio-mech art, etc. These are all genres that the artist enjoys but also have clear histories and definitions. The artist feels his work belongs entirely to none of these genres.

In search of a good term for his art, through commercial work the artist met musician Takeshi Ueda and through him learned of industrial music. Shichigoro-shingo was moved by Ueda’s music and felt the combination of industry, noise, and distortion combined with the spirit of punk in the form of industrial punk was the perfect label for his worldview. Shichigoro-shingo’s work for this exhibition is a combination of black machinery and a white world, the inorganic with the organic.
