Masami Yamamoto
For the last 10 years, Masami Yamamoto has transformed memorable pieces of clothing belonging to herself, her family, and friends into handcrafted and fired ceramic works. Her perceptive observations and elaborate technique express “the moment of reversal,” when soft and light fabrics are transformed into hard and heavy works which, when viewed, maintain the characteristics of the original object. Simultaneously, she acts as a kind of “photographic” device. The impact and influence of the birth of her first child can clearly be seen in her artistic work.
