Yuji Tezuka
Yuji Tezuka has taught in the Nihonga painting division of Tokyo University of the Arts since 1992. He will retire in March 2020. A prize-winning Nihonga painter himself, he was appointed to the Nippon Art Academy and spent a career aggressively pursuing new forms of Nihonga incorporating Western techniques of light and space while using traditional Japanese materials such as gold paint and sand. This exhibition presents his folding screens and other award-winning works as well as sketches and drafts.
