This year the museum is celebrating its 35th year. In celebration, the museum is holding an exhibition that reinterprets its collection in a new light.
Four artists will be participating in the exhibition- Satoru Aoyama, Maki Ohkojima, Motohiro Tomii, and Manika Nagare. Each artist was asked to create works that were reconstructed from the works in this museum. In the pre-exhibition (2nd-floor exhibition room), the production process, thoughts, and themes will be introduced, and the new and old works will be shown together in this exhibition.
Beginning with a chapter that introduces the collection’s works from the perspective of “history”, the “media” section that flows through the “color” section that is influenced by the choice of painting materials and the visual and color perception of each individual regarding space, Tomii and Ohkojima are in charge of the body that receives them, and by tracing these will reconstruct how the collection is viewed. The artists’ works are based on Eikyu Matsuoka’s ‘Satsuki Matsuhamamura’, Shuho Ikegami’s ‘Sakura Hakuhoto/Akikusa gunkakuzu’, Gaku Onogi’s oil paintings, and Kwak Duck-jun’s “Presidential Series”.
