Showcasing the accomplishments of director Isao Takahata (1935-2018), one of the architects of post-war Japanese animation. Takahata, who always had his finger on the pulse and was consistently finding new and revolutionary forms of expression, greatly influenced other creators. This exhibition focuses on Takahata’s skills as a director, presenting over 1000 documents including hitherto unseen production notes and sketches.
From Ote exit of Nagaoka Station on the JR Shinetsu Main line, take the bus and get off at Kenritsu Bijutsukan-mae. The venue is 2 minute walk from there.
