Collection Highlight 2: Reconsidering the Gender Balance in Collections and Exhibitions
The theme of Yinka Shonibare CBE’s “Woman Releasing Cherry Blossoms,” which was unveiled at the museum’s reopening and added to the collection, is women’s empowerment. In the background of this exhibition is the reality that gender inequality, including employment opportunities, still persists in the world and in Japan. The museum’s collection and exhibition activities are not unrelated.
This exhibition will focus on the works of female artists and organize the exhibition around their works.
