Yumi Nagata
Yumi Nagata graduated from Tama Art University in 2021 with a major in Japanese painting. As an artist, Nagata constantly goes back and forth between conflicting feelings, expressing her obsession and uncomfortableness with the girl who is the center of her motifs. The work reflects Nagata’s own image, which is tinged with contradictions, in a series of affirmations and negations. Nagata continues to challenge the refracted resistance to the history of Japanese art and contemporary art, seeking to create paintings that are possible only in the two-dimensional culture generation.
