Masako Matsui
“Japan in my Mind” is a series of photographs taken by Matsui as she traveled around Japan to explore the source of Japanese sentiment. This is the second exhibition, following the last one in November 2020.

This exhibition features photographs of Shinobazu Pond taken between 2015 and 2021. Shinobazu Pond, located in the southwest part of Ueno Park, is one of the largest ponds in central Tokyo with a diameter of 2 kilometers. It is a natural pond that was created by the retreat of the coastline, which continued until the Heian period. Since the Edo period, it has been known for its lotus flowers. Today the pond exists under the protection of tall office buildings and is divided into three sections: Lotus Pond, Boat Pond, and Cormorant Pond.

There will be a simultaneous exhibition at the Kula Photo Gallery, featuring the photographs taken between 2016 and 2020 in Omi.
