This is an exhibition featuring paintings of people. People draw people. There are many reasons, many ways of painting, many themes, and many stories. And the person depicted lives on in the painting. From among the Hoki Museum’s largest collection of portraits, have been selected 74 works by 22 artists.

Nobuyuki Shimamura, who is known for his beautiful female figures and skin expressions, Kenichiro Ishiguro, who uses anime motifs without idealizing them and paints them in a detailed manner, Ryo Shiotani, who is known for his expression of the gaze, Osamu Obi, who paints female figures with strength against the forces of nature, Hiroshi Ikushima, who paints detailed female figures in an enigmatic atmosphere, and They are followed by Fumihiko Gomi, who is known for his outstanding expression of texture, and whose work is characterized by portraits. The exhibition also includes works by Sosuke Morimoto, a master of realism who paints quiet, sepia-toned female figures without leaving any brushstrokes, and Hiroshi Noda, who focuses on the presence of the figure. Also on display will be Kei Mieno’s “I Believe,” winner of the Special Prize of the 2nd Hoki Art Museum Grand Prize, and Keiichiro Kono’s “Annabell,” winner of the 1st Hoki Art Museum Platinum Grand Prize. In addition, Kenichiro Ishiguro’s “Use of Injection Device” and Osamu Obi’s “Perch” will be exhibited for the first time.
