This exhibition is the final chapter of the Yukinori Yanagi Tsunagi Project, which began in 2019 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Tsunagi Art Museum in 2021. The exhibition will feature large-scale outdoor works created by Yukinori Yanagi through a three-year dialogue with the local community. Inspired by the literature of Michiko Ishimure, a writer associated with the city of Minamata, which is adjacent to the town of Tsunagi, and who depicts a fertile world, the work conveys in a multilayered manner the two sides of the history and culture of a region that has been at the mercy of Minamata disease and the various events surrounding the disease and encourages people to decipher the truth that may exist in a society that is faced with a number of conflicts and justice. This exhibition is being held in conjunction with the concurrent special exhibition “Yukinori Yanagi Tsunagi Project 2019-2021”.
