This June, Huls Gallery Tokyo presents an exhibition of Kokura Shima Shima, a Kokura-ori fabric brand from Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. The exhibition features the latest Spring 2021 collection, with the new addition of three fabric patterns inspired by the concept of “the beauty of nature for all four seasons in Japan”, which is fundamental to the Kokura-ori’s color palettes. The stripe patterns, reminiscent of wildflowers, plants, and water, portray the beauty of transience and airiness. In addition to the original tapestry series by Shima Shima, various everyday items such as bags and furoshiki that are perfect for spring to summer outfits are also available at the gallery.
