Felice "Lizzi" Rix-Ueno
Felice “Lizzi” Rix-Ueno studied under Josef Hoffmann and others at the Wiener Werkstätte (Vienna Workshop). After graduation, she joined the Wiener Werkstätte and worked in textile design. Her designs are characterized by free lines and lifelike colors. Her designs combining familiar natural elements such as birds, fish, flowers, and trees were very popular.

Lizzi met and married Isaburo Ueno, an architect from Kyoto, and continued to work as a designer for the Wiener Werkstätte while moving back and forth between the two cities. After World War II, in addition to designing interiors for private homes and stores, she also worked as an educator to teach younger designers.

This exhibition is the world's first retrospective of Rix-Ueno's design world. Work from Rix-Ueno's large collection in Vienna, New York, and Kyoto will be gathered.
