The project including this exhibition invites Adriaan Rees to Japan to present the artist's new works for the first time in Japan since October 2015. Rees also will do performance shows within this project.
Adriaan Rees creates works as a bridge between East and West Eurasia, between Asian and European cultures, as the artist roams the world like a wanderer. A performance Rees was preparing in 2021 in tribute to Joseph Beuys led the artist to feel that Beuys' approach to Japan was left unfinished. This is the vision that Rees wants to take over and realize in a new, original form in the present.
