Asahikawa's Art During the Last Hundred Years, Part I

Hokkaido Asahikawa Museum of Art
Finished
In 1918, a group of young men founded the first art association in Asahikawa, Hokkaido. In the early Showa period (1926-1989), the number of artists who participated in exhibitions in and outside of Hokkaido increased. After World War II, the younger generation of artists began to seek a new art movement to replace the public exhibitions. This exhibition commemorates the 100th anniversary of Asahikawa's municipal foundation and the 40th anniversary of the museum's opening and is a retrospective of Asahikawa's art history.
