This will be the last exhibition from Chim↑Pom, which will change its name to "Chim↑Pom from Smappa!Group" after the opening day. It coincides with “Happy Spring” at the Mori Art Museum and a solo show at Mujin-To Production opening on April 30. The origin of the collective's name change is explained in detail in its "Notice of Name Change" statement.
In this exhibition, Chim↑Pom from Smappa!Group will present new video and light works created with the cooperation of Smappa!Group, a Kabukicho host club company behind the name change. This is a collaboration between artists and the people of a "nightlife district" subject to negative and unfounded rumors that tends to be excluded from society. The show features a new version of the “Libido-Electricity Conversion Machine Erokitel,” a sex drive-powered electric conversion device displayed at Mori Art Museum. With street lights that once existed in Kabukicho, the Erokiter uses sensors to detect incoming phone calls from unspecified adults looking at erotic advertisements. This unique work of public art by Chim↑Pom from Smappa!Group emphasizes sustainability by not letting any energy go to waste. In addition, the "roads" at Mori Art Museum will be conceptually divided into three “tsubos” of virtual land based on ideas similar to "moon plots.” An attempt will be made to convert them into NFTs.
