Itabashi Art Museum
Finished

Artists

Chozaburo Inoue, Masaaki Terada, Iwami Furusawa
Chozaburo Inoue (1906-1995), Masaaki Terada (1912-1989), and Iwami Furusawa (1912-2000) moved to Tokyo with passionate aspirations to become painters, establishing residences and studios in Ikebukuro Montparnasse before the war and in Itabashi Ward after the war. They were inspired by Japanese and Western painters, as well as Fauvism and Surrealism introduced from abroad before the war, and established their own style of painting. This exhibition will explore the lives of these three painters who continued to paint and observe the turbulent times they lived through.
