Clone Cultural Properties— Jean-François Millet's "The Sower"

Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Jean-François Millet
Last year, we made ultra high resolution images of three paintings of Jean-François Millet from our collection, including "The Sower", with the financial support of the Agency of Cultural Affairs. The photographs are extremely high in resolution and because of this, we are now able to see elements from the surface which are unable to be seen by the naked eye.
This year, partnered with the Tokyo University of the Arts, we created a "clone cultural property" of "The Sower". A clone cultural property is a work that reproduces the original with all the details, including the characteristics of the canvas surface. It was conducted in the span of 9 months. In this exhibition with the use of 3D technology, the visitors will not only be able to see the colors but the texture of the surface as well.
