The massive collection of the Louvre Museum includes a collection of chalcographie at the Graphic Art Department. "Chalcographie" stands for the copperplate prints made at the museum's Graphic Art Preservation Office and its atelier. Founded in 1797, the Louvre Chalcographie holds collections of prints made to show the greatness of Louis XIV, the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture's collection, and other. The overall collection continued to expand afterwards, and started including contemporary artists since the beginning of 20th century.
