Cote Escriva, born in Valencia, Spain in 1982, is still based in Spain but has exhibited in London, Los Angeles, and Singapore. She is also an artist who regularly shows her work at art fairs around the world, including Art Taipei. Since her childhood, Escriva has been greatly influenced by American pop culture, urban art, and cartoons.
Retro, pop, and at times dark, Escriva's work is characterized by a commitment to lowbrow style. The work also offers a glimpse into Escriva's various motivations and approaches to expression that comes from within and the animation that she was familiar with as a child.
Also characteristic of Escriva's work are the colors. Some of her works have a pop atmosphere, while others are retro. In the past, Escriva has not placed much importance on color, but in recent years she has begun to experiment more with color.
The work in this exhibition overlaps Escriva's childhood memories with her own memories, and the viewer can feel the culture behind the memories.
