Eyes on Tohoku 1930-1945

Iwate Museum of Art
Finished
From the 1930s to 1945, Japan experienced a period of rapid change in visual culture and lifestyles, as the urban culture known as Showa Modern reached its peak. At this time, many people visited the Tohoku region, paying attention to the aspects of architecture and daily life, writing them down, collecting them, and exhibiting them. This exhibition will reexamine the attention given to the Tohoku region and its portrayal.
