Artists

Finn Juhl
Denmark is a design superpower particularly noted for its iconic, high-quality furniture produced from the 1940s through the 1960s. Among Danish designers, Finn Juhl (1912-1989) stands out for his exceptionally original and beautiful furniture. His chairs, with their characteristically elegant curves, have won acclaim for their sculptural appearance.

This exhibition will trace the history of Danish furniture design to reveal the background from which Juhl’s innovative works sprang. It will make evident the excellence of his designs, which while modern, fit the body comfortably. By looking at chairs at a time when a global pandemic has forced us to rethink how we live and work, the exhibition will offer critical insights into comfortable living.
