Originating in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century, abstract art flourished in New York and other cities after World War II, when many artists moved from Europe to the United States. The origin of abstract expression has influenced Japan since the prewar period, especially from the 1950s to the 1970s, when unique Japanese art trends such as "Gutai" and "Mono-ha" arose and many artists engaged in abstract expression. This exhibition focuses on works from the Terada Collection from the 1960s to the 1980s.
