Fu Yi-Yao + Fu Bao Shi Exhibition

Nagano Prefectural Art Museum
Finished

Artists

Fu Yi-Yao, Fu Bao Shi
The first joint exhibition for Fu Yi-Yao, an ink and wash painter representing the modern Chinese painting world with close ties to Nagano Prefecture, and her father Fu Bao Shi, a master of modern Chinese painting. Both studied in Japan, and by incorporating Japanese techniques into traditional Chinese ink painting, they developed innovative expressions that transcended national borders and genres. This show introduces outstanding works by these two artists who have broken new ground in the art world. It features ink landscapes Bao Shi created while studying in Japan and recent works by Yi-Yao inspired by Japanese festivals and temple wall paintings. Haiku by Basho and Issa are also exhibited.
