This exhibition of work by Guy Bourdin, one of the leading fashion photographers of the 20th century, was first held at the Chanel Nexus Hall and will travel to Kyoto. In addition to Bourdin’s most iconic works, the show will also feature original prints from his valuable archive. These vintage black-and-white photographs showcase his early experiments and the evolution of his distinctive style.
This Kyotographie exhibition will feature a new venue design, several color photographs including an image of the model Sayoko Yamaguchi, Polaroid photographs that serve as valuable documents for understanding Bourdin’s creative process, and magazines and documentary videos from the period in which his work was published. These works exemplify Bourdin’s creative process and shed light on his curiosity for enigmatic images and surrealist cinema.
