Hara Hiromu was a designer who led in the dawn of graphic design in Japan. This exhibition’s starting point is his work from the 1920s, when he was deeply involved in new art movements, including Sanka and Zoukei, and goes on to explore his work in the 1930s and 1940s, which laid the foundations for his later creative approaches. Works from the museum collection are joined by materials from Tokushu Tokai Paper’s Hiromu Hara Archive in an attempt to examine his thinking about Gestaltung.
