Jean Prouvé
Born in Paris in 1901 to a painter and a musician, Jean Prouvé began his career as a metalworker under the influence of the Nancy School, a branch of Art Nouveau that sought to fuse industry and art. He opened his first workshop in 1923 and later expanded his work from furniture to architecture, working with Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, and others.

Prouvé's work, which explored aluminum and steel as materials for transportable furniture and architecture, as well as developing new technologies of foldable chairs and prefab architecture, encompassed multiple fields of design, craft, and architecture. His works largely impacted architecture and industrial design in the 20th century, including those of Jean Nouvel and Renzo Piano. This exhibition provides a comprehensive introduction to Prouvé's work by presenting his original works, drawings, and other materials that still remain today.
