National Film Archive of Japan presents the retrospective exhibition of film director Kajiro Yamamoto.
Yamamoto, who supported the golden age of Japanese cinema, directed the first of Toho's innovative new projects, such as musical comedies, postwar salaryman comedies, war stories, and color films. As a leading figure in the Toho studios, he is credited with introducing Akira Kurosawa and discovering Toshiro Mifune. This exhibition will feature and screen his 21 best-known works to reflect on his achievements.
