Kasumi Maeda majored in sculpture and has been creating sculpture works a bit different from the usual perception of it - by using textile, paper, clay, or video in her works. In her works there is always the presence of "the body", which obstructs the wholesomeness of the creating process multiple times.
Putting this kind of relation to "the body" at the core, Maeda collaborated with the dancer Sayaka Toyoshima to create her first performance work. To the moving "body" that is almost like not her own, Toyoshima acts like he "other" supporting it. It is almost like the unfamiliar tool - for example, the "cane" as an extension of the limbs. It is safe to say that this is maybe the first attempt to "utilize" it.
Started from sculpture, now under the form of performance will be presented Maeda's attempt on the "otherness" of the body.
