Kensaku Kakimoto
“Feel Kiyomizudera" is a project that transmits new interpretations and perspectives on prayer based on expressions that transcend all boundaries of language, race, and culture. Kensaku Kakimoto, who has produced many video works and is also active as a photographer, including advertising photography and artist portraits, will hold a new exhibition at the 1,200-year-old Kiyomizu-dera Temple on Otowasan. Kiyomizu-dera Temple has been open to the general public since ancient times as a sacred site for the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva and a point of exchange for scholarship and art. Kensaku Kakimoto will express the concept of "living in the present moment" with the theme of time at this universal place of prayer that still exists after 1200 years.

In this exhibition, Kakimoto presents “Time," a new series of works that capture light and time that have traveled through the macrocosm for tens of millions of years in a single film, and “Kan-Non," a new series that uses the main deity of Kiyomizu Temple, "Eleven-Faced Thousand-Armed Kannon Bosatsu," as its motif. These works were created with the West Gate (an important cultural property) of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, one of the most famous places in Kyoto for sunsets. The sunset representing the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss pouring into the West Gate was made to look through a previously taken photograph and then photographed again to complete the work. He also presented a new series, "Sky Tunnel," which is a further development of the AI development series "Time Tunnel," which was released last year and attracted much attention. Through these works that trap perpetual light, Kakimoto creates a new place for prayer.
