Meiji Restoration brought revolutionary structural changes not only to Japanese society, but also to the modern Japanese calligraphy. Those who became the key players in society started to express their individual beliefs in calligraphy and by gaining access to the original texts from China, Japanese calligraphy went through remarkable changes.
This exhibition features the works collected by well-known art critic Kenzo Tajika and aims to explore the essence of modern calligraphy.
