Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997) was born in Aizu, Fukushima Prefecture, and was the leading printmaker in Japan through the Meiji, Taisho, Showa, and Heisei eras. His self-taught prints are characterized by a simple, poetic composition that combines traditional Japanese and Western art from a unique perspective and features many motifs.
