One of the attractions of Japanese culture is the fusion of traditional culture and advanced technology. This exhibition will feature an installation at Haneda Airport as "Welcome Art" that connects a wide range of today's artistic expression, including media art (art using technology) and entertainment such as manga and animation, with the traditional Japanese art appreciation experience.
Kakejiku is a traditional Japanese art form in which calligraphy and paintings are hung in an alcove or on a wall for decoration or viewing. Technology and a modern interpretation have been used to give this traditional medium to give it a new look. A monitor is installed in the center of the paper, where paintings and calligraphy are usually displayed, to project images created by five artists working in the field of contemporary media art. Visitors to the airport will be greeted by images of artists and creators expressing the appeal of Japanese culture from new perspectives and methods on a screen that resembles a hanging scroll.
