Our Collection in Six Rooms

Morohashi Museum of Modern Art
Finished
Since its opening in 1999, the Morohashi Museum of Modern Art has continued to build a distinctive collection of 19th and 20th century Western paintings centered on works by artists such as Salvador Dali and the British painter PJ Crook. The foundation for the collection was laid by the museum’s founder Teizo Morohashi (1934-2003), with his wish that "as many people as possible should be able to appreciate and be moved by the many outstanding works of modern Western art." This spirit is still carried on by the museum staff today.

This exhibition introduces the collection throughout six rooms from the perspectives of six “residents.” It is hoped that as visitors tour the rooms, they will be touched and surprised by the various works and messages from each resident, and that these experiences will deepen their connections with the museum.
