Picasso "The Blue Period and Beyond"

Pola Museum of Art
Finished

Artists

Pablo Picasso
At the age of 20, Pablo Picasso looked at poor people in sorrow and captured their appearance in his paintings using blue paint, creating an unparalleled human image. Picasso never ceased his vigorous creative drive throughout his 91-year life, from his "Blue Period," the artist's starting point, to his exploration of experimental cubism, and from the time of his maturity to his later years. Even half a century after his death, his paintings continue to vividly demonstrate the power of living expression. This exhibition is a joint project of the Pola Museum of Art, which boasts one of the best Picasso collections in Japan, and the Hiroshima Museum of Art, based on research of Picasso's work conducted with the cooperation of museums in Europe and the U.S. This exhibition focuses on the creative process of Picasso, who "painted" throughout his life. The exhibition will explore the creative path left behind by the 20th-century master through the latest scientific technology and research on his works, as well as rare works of art from Japan and abroad, including paintings from the collections of the two museums.
