The Tokyo Nude series by Rumi Ando, a photographer and re-toucher, is based on the concept of "creating a fictional Tokyo through photography" using retouching techniques such as compositing and processing. By erasing all the "noise" in the city such as advertisements, windows, outdoor equipment, and other objects, Ando reveals the “nakedness” of Tokyo stripped of its the garments of civilization. In these works, colors and color schemes are changed, and even clouds and buildings are synthesized, depicting the contours of Tokyo as a flat, parallel world, just like a painting.
This exhibition will be held simultaneously at hpgrp Gallery Tokyo in Minami Aoyama and H.P. France Window Gallery Marunouchi on the 1st floor of Marunouchi Building. The Tokyo Nude painting series is exhibited for the first time in Japan.
