This lecture, titled "Series: Women in Art," is part of a series of events designed to look back on the history of art from the perspective of female creators. In this series, we have held "Feminism and Gender in the War of Women Painters" (lecturer: Tomoko Kira) and "Impressionist Women Painters" (lecturer: Yasuhide Shinbata). This third series will focus on "self-portraits" by women painters, with Makiko Horio, an art historian and leading researcher on Frida Kahlo, as the lecturer. The exhibition will focus on Frida Kahlo, Setsuko Migishi, Remedios Varo, and other women painters, and explore their social backgrounds and the driving forces behind their artistic expression through the self-portraits they painted.

Venue: Hibiya Convention Hall (Main Hall), B1F, Hibiya Library & Culture Center
Capacity: 100 people (advance registration required; deadline when capacity is reached)

*Advance reservations are required for this event. Please check the official website for details on how to register.
