Showa Through the Eyes of Kudan Kaikan

National Showa Memorial Museum
Finished
The Kudan Kaikan, adjacent to the Showa-kan, was planned for construction in 1928 as part of the Showa Grand Reception commemorative project and was completed and inaugurated in 1934. At the time of its establishment, it was called the "Military Hall," and when the Ni-Ni-VI Incident broke out in 1936, the Martial Law Headquarters was established there, making it a facility that played a major role in the turbulent history of the Showa period. After the war, under the management of the Japan Bereaved Families Association, it was used by many people as a wedding hall, lodging, and hall.

Currently undergoing a major renovation, construction is scheduled to be completed in July 2022, and the building will open as Kudan Kaikan Terrace on October 3 of the same year. This exhibition unravels the history of Kudan Kaikan, which has continued to observe the turbulent changes of the Showa period.
