Artists

Tai Ogawa
This exhibition will present new works, mainly collages drawn on a screen – a technique the artist has been using since around 2014. Tai Ogawa, who has resumed his artistic activities after a motorcycle accident in 2013, defines painting as the creation of a three-dimensional space in a flat, two-dimensional one and is working to expand the possibilities of these surfaces. What he calls “doodles” are the starting point of his creations and an expression of his reality. By reconstructing images on the canvas in a disjointed chronological order, his paintings transform meaning in ways that resemble anagrams. The "sekai-kei" or "world-type" genre of animation that flourished around the end of the 20th century is another feature of these airbrushed images that appear digital at first glance.
