Hotel Gajoen Tokyo presents a Taisho Romanticism-themed exhibition at its Hyakudan Staircase, a cultural asset designated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The exhibition will feature works by Yumeji Takehisa, one of the most famous painters of the Taisho period (1912–1926), in collaboration with the popular illustrator Hiromi Matsuo. There will also be a display of Taisho-era kimonos and “modern girl” outfits based on Shochiku Costume’s concept of Taisho Romanticism. A coffee shop with retro stained glass will be opened, allowing visitors to experience the culture and fashions of the Taisho and early Showa eras.
