Roppongi Hills Tokyo City View presents "The Rose of Versailles 50th Anniversary Exhibitionー The Rose of Versailles Forever" from September 17 (Sat) to November 20 (Sun), 2022.

Riyoko Ikeda's "The Rose of Versailles" was published from April 1972 to December 1973 in the shojo manga magazine "Margaret Weekly" (now "Margaret," published by Shueisha). The epic historical drama set against the backdrop of the French Revolution changed the perception that historical stories were not appropriate for girls' manga. The series quickly won girls' hearts and became a massive hit. It became so popular that it received thousands of fan letters every month and established itself as an immortal masterpiece that changed the history of shojo manga.

Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the series this year, the exhibition will feature rare original drawings along with Riyoko Ikeda's thoughts and words. The exhibition also traces the development of the timeless masterpiece through various perspectives, including animated TV series, nostalgic goods, and more. In the Takarazuka corner, the "Oscar's Room" from the play will be recreated, and stage costumes and props will be displayed to introduce the play's magnificent world.
