The World of Embroidered Pictorial Artー The Beauty in Japan in the Meiji and Taisho Periods

Nihombashi Takashimaya 8F Hall
Finished
Embroidered paintings were one of Japan's representative arts and crafts during the Meiji period (1868-1912) and were exported as interior decorations to residences overseas. These works of art, created with the most refined techniques, are regarded as the pinnacle of Japanese embroidery. At that time, Japan sought rapid modernization, and many arts and crafts were exported to foreign countries to promote culture and enrich Japan by acquiring foreign currencies.
The exhibition "The World of Embroidered Pictorial Artー The Beauty in Japan in the Meiji and Taisho Periods" brings together embroidered paintings and other valuable materials, including sketches for works Takashimaya exhibited at the 1900 Paris World's Fair and other events. Visitors are invited to enjoy the beautiful and graceful world of embroidered paintings.
