Yufi Yamamoto "Milk and Alcohol"

Diginner Gallery Workshop
Finished

Artists

Yufi Yamamoto
Yufi Yamamoto, who is of Japanese, Koreans and Russian descent, moved to the US alone at the age of sixteen. Her art, fostered in California for more than ten years, was inspired by retro colors and LA street subculture. At first glance, it looks merry, yet the common trait in all of Yamamoto's works is the sense of "emptiness" and "loneliness", as well as her womanhood, hidden anger and a sense of despair. But with the use of bright colors, Yamamoto does not convey sad emotions onto the viewers, succeeding in placing her works as pop and strange with a sense of uniqueness.
