Artists

Yayoi Kusama
Yayoi Kusama, who began by painting fantastical images due to her experiences with hallucinations and auditory hallucinations from a young age, honed her realistic techniques while attending the Kyoto Municipal School of Arts and Crafts. In 1957, she moved to the United States alone. Her style, reminiscent of the minimalism that was popular in the 1960s, was embraced by the New York art scene at that time. From the late 1980s, Kusama's work was re-evaluated as addressing the issues faced by female artists confronting feudal Japanese society.

This exhibition will feature approximately 30 pieces from the Forever Contemporary Art Museum collection, including oil paintings, watercolors, acrylic paintings, and prints from her early years to recent works, showcasing the allure of Yayoi Kusama, who continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
