Artists

Kimiaki Ishizuka
The doll artist and photographer Kimiaki Ishizuka creates and photographs dolls based on representations of real people, especially literary figures. By sculpting the doll first, then taking a photograph, refining it to two dimensions, and then removing shadows, Ishizuka style pictorialism is able to achieve a free and bold composition similar to Japanese art. Approximately 15 new works by Ishizuka, including historical figures and fictional characters related to Zen Buddhism, will be displayed in an exhibition themed Kanzan and Jitoku.
