To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Abeno Harukas, a large-scale exhibition featuring the work of calligrapher and artist Sisyu will be held. Continuously exploring uncharted expressions by boldly reconstructing Japanese tradition and aesthetics, Sisyu integrates calligraphy into painting, explores "shoga" where characters are liberated from the two-dimensional plane to create a three-dimensional "cubism of calligraphy," expresses the outlines of paintings as new ink works in sculptural form with "ukiyo-e spring pictures," and combines Western painting techniques with calligraphy in "calligraphy with relinquished margins," among other approaches.
The exhibition will showcase approximately 70 pieces, marking the first time in four years that all series of works will be displayed together in Kansai. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a collection of works that transcend concepts and stimulate inspiration, free of charge.
