Artists

Aguri Uchida
Aguri Uchida (1949-) is a renowned contemporary Japanese-style painter, recognized for winning major art awards in 1993 and 2002. Uchida explores the theme of the "body," addressing profound human questions while innovatively blending classical Japanese-style painting techniques with new expressions. Uchida's recent works emphasize the integration of human figures with natural landscapes.

The exhibition titled "Fluxes" conveys the idea of constant change, reflecting Uchida's exploration of overflowing water and the dynamic nature of existence. Held in Tenryu, Hamamatsu, Fuku Akino's hometown, the exhibition features Uchida's latest large-scale works inspired by this setting, alongside early human depictions and foundational drawings. It also includes special displays of Akino's artworks and Uchida's sketchbooks from Uchida's stay in India.
