Continuity of Chronos shifts from constructed systems to the experience of time itself: continuous, indifferent, and unfolding beyond our control. Time is not depicted as fleeting, but as something that accumulates, presses forward, and leaves a physical trace. This sense of duration is held within the concept of ma (間), the interval or space between moments, where time is not measured, but felt. Surfaces are developed through layers of acrylic, wax, and batik, creating resistances and interruptions within the image. Wax preserves and obscures simultaneously, holding moments in suspension while allowing others to dissolve. The process mirrors time’s uneven movement, its pauses, repetitions, and gradual transformations. The thread is sewn into the canvas as a durational act. Each stitch marks a moment of contact, a unit of time embedded into the work. The resulting compositions are not representations of time, but records of it, formed through endurance, repetition, and the persistence of making. If the first exhibition considers how structure is imposed and learned, Continuity of Chronos considers what remains constant regardless: time as a force that continues, with or without us.
