Artists

Akio Niisato
Akio Niisato has been creating the "Koki" series for over 20 years.

The technique known as "hotarude" (filling holes made in the base clay with transparent glaze and firing), found in artworks from the Ming Dynasty in China, allows light to pass through the glaze, causing patterns to emerge and giving the impression of firefly light, hence its name.

The "Koki" series, delicately and contemporarily expressed using this technique, is modern and practical while exuding a presence as an art piece. In recent years, works featuring colors such as yellow, green, and light blue have been added, showcasing new charms.
