Artists

Akiyoshi Nomura
March 2021 marked 30 years since the death at the age of 26 of Akiyoshi Nomura, a painter born in Saga who studied painting in Tokyo and showed great promise for the future. His creative works, such as dry painted surfaces like murals of ruins and mysterious floating objects, continue to attract the hearts of many people.

The Saga Prefectural Museum of Art has not only the many works Nomura created during his 26 years of life, but also his handwritten "production notebooks." The notebooks, along with the preliminary drawings and conceptual sketches of his work, contain Nomura's thoughts on his creative activities and his determination to pursue beauty in his own words, vividly reflecting the young artist's path of creation and contemplation.

This exhibition will reveal the secrets of Nomura's creative process through his “production notebook" along with his acrylic paintings.
