Alfredo Jaar
Alfredo Jaar (b. 1956, Santiago, Chile; lives and works in New York) is an artist whose work has been exhibited in major museums and prestigious international exhibitions around the world, as well as an architect and film director. His work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim Museum (both in New York), the Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), and other museums around the world, and more than 60 books have been published about Jah. In Japan, he was awarded the 11th Hiroshima Prize in 2018, and his solo exhibition will be held at the Hiroshima City Museum of Contemporary Art in July 2023.

Jaar's work is known worldwide for reflecting and evoking issues in contemporary society. He spends a great deal of time conducting in-depth research on human rights abuses and social injustices in various regions, and by reexamining the information and gaining deeper insight, he sheds light on the truth rather than the surface and sublimates it into artworks. His works, described as the "Art of Illumination," are experienced through his keen eye for observation, and are manifested through media such as words, neon lights, and photographs. Each work guides us to have the ability to think independently and to see the truth.

Faro Workplace, a gallery located in the corner of the newly opened Faro Nakameguro shared office, is named after “faro," meaning a lighthouse or guidepost. Through the exhibition of contemporary artworks and the introduction of artists, the gallery will promote communication and deepen thinking on various issues in society.
